A Moviegoers Guide to the Reading Film Festival

This weekend the Reading Film Commission will host its third annual Reading FilmFest throughout the city showcasing everyone from local to international filmmakers. With an entire weekend of film screenings, after parties, and workshops on the schedule, we made up a convenient guide to help you plan your weekend.

First let’s talk about the venues, films will be screened at the following locations: WCR Center for the Arts, GoggleWorks Boscov Film Theater and RC Reading Movies & IMAX. Just a side note the WCR is not handicapped accessible.

Friday

The Film Fest begins with the opening night gala at the WCR Center for Arts at 5:30pm. The gala is open to all VIP members, filmmakers and features a special performance by the THIS IS READING Dancers. http://readingfilmfest.com/opening-gala

Let the show begin! Friday night showcases Friday Night Shorts at the GoggleWorks and At the Drive-In at the Reading Movies 11 & IMAX.

Saturday

Saturday morning starts out with a few filmmakers workshops including Filmmaker Talkback, Filmmaker Forum, Virtual Reality Demonstration all happening at the GoggleWorks.

The afternoon features a wide assortment of films at each venue including Dr. Feelgood, Saturday Shorts, Writer’s Roundtable, FATF Films, A Bold Peace, Double Docs Features, Made in Reading, and a new category LatinX Shorts.

The evening presents the Best of StudentFest, Awake: A Dream From Standing Rock, The Iron Sixth, Stuck on Someday, Denial, Glass, and The Ground that Sinks.

Sunday

Sunday screenings begin at 12:30pm and continue the rest of the day including Friday Night Shorts Encore, Close to Home Shorts, Hope Works Here: A Camden Story, and This is Reading (might sell out, get tickets early).

Closing the Film Fest is the Awards Ceremony and Reception and the closing night film Sueño en otro idioma (I Dream in Another Language)
