We caught up with local artist and business owner Victoria Parisi at her studio, Blush & Brushes Art Parties to talk about her recent decision to compete in West Reading’s Plein Air competition. Hosted by the West Reading Community Revitalization Foundation, Plein Air is the newest addition to their yearly Art on the Avenue street fair.
After painting all day Saturday artists will be able to showcase their work at the after party Saturday evening from 6-9pm at Joseph Robert Clothier (520 Penn Ave.).
For her take on life in West Reading Victoria will be painting the wildlife of the borough in front of Justin Bortz Jewelers. Her inspiration for participating in the Plein Air came from several years of attending the street fair as a vendor. She explains that selling her art in her booth was very one sided.
Customers couldn’t experience the hard work and dedication that goes into each canvas. With this opportunity Victoria is hoping more artist follow her lead to make Art on the Avenue more about the Artist and their process of creating.
Not only does Victoria pride herself as a painter but she was able to take her skill and build a business to teach others to be creative. In 2014 Victoria started Blush & Brushes Art Parties. Besides having fun with wine and paint, Victoria’s goal is to inspire customers to be creative and help learn a new skill. Building for the future, Victoria continues to add individual paint classes and several “party style” group classes.
