Mad Dogs, Kutztown’s favorite Hot Dog eatery hosted their first outdoor hot dog eating contest of the season on Saturday in partnership with the Kutztown University chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

For just $10 contestants braved a continuous line of hot dogs all to raise money for St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Mad Dogs also donated 10% of their sales during the contest for the fundraiser.

“It was originally suppose to be a wing eating contest” Said Noah Vucenovic of TKE. With so many restaurants in Kutztown serving hot wings, Vucenovic was looking for something a little more unique.

Vucenovic, TKE’s Philanthropy chair, chose Mad Dogs after speaking with owners Chris Moyer and Melissa Casto, who offered to find a DJ and provide their outdoor patio space for the contest.

In total, over 100 hot dogs we consumed over the five rounds. The overall winners of the competition, 1st place Max Berdymuratov and 2nd place Brody Adamsky.
