Join David Shefter, owner of the Penn Werner Hotel in downtown Wernersville, as he and his family throw one great big BBQ festival at the Leesport Farmers Market on Saturday July 8th, from 10am until 8pm.

There will be 12 award winning Pit Masters offering their specialty smoked brisket, pulled pork, chicken wings, ribs, smoked chicken, burgers, turkey legs, and sausage with all their delicious sides. The Pit masters David assembled for this event include: Fire and Spice BBQ, The Pink Pig, Penn Werner Hotel, K’town Pub Taphouse and BBQ, Johnny & Hons Smoke Haus, Station House Grille, Backwoods Brothers Authentic Texas Cuisine, Dawn’s Deli — Taste of Hamburger Grand Champion, Hawg Haus Sloppy Second’s and Jakes Place- Hamburg.

Other foods will be available are Jambalaya, Cajun Shrimp, Bacon on a stick, smoked jalapeno peppers, ice cream, Italian ice, kettle and roasted corn. In addition, there will be plenty of food for the kids; mac & Cheese, Hot Dogs, Chicken Fingers, and more.

Along with this delicious array of foods BBQ Fest will also have specialty vendors offering their unique products such as smoked jerky, BBQ sauces, smoked cheeses, mustard’s, hot sauces, and pickles.

A limited supply of Pit Master Tasting cards are available for the fest. A $10 card has six tickets on it. Each ticket can be exchanged at one of the pit masters for a 2oz sample. That’s ¾ of a pound of smoked goodness for only $10. Don’t worry, all the other vendors will be giving away samples to entice your purchase.

The fest would not be complete without a Beer tent to help compliment the delicious array of foods and snacks that will be offered throughout the day. Don’t feel like a beer? That’s fine PA BBQ Fest will also have 6 local wineries on hand to sample and purchase their fine selections. PA BBQ Fest will also have live music playing throughout the day. The bands include: Frair’s Point Band, Lil Ragu, Dana Gaynor, Blues City Band, and Crossroads Duo.

New for 2017! A Backyard Cook-Off will feature competitors turning in Ribs, Chicken, and an “Open Class” plate to the selected judges for a spirited competition. There will be a selection of activities for the kids to fill their day. As an added bonus to the day, the PA BBQ FEST is held in conjunction with the Leesport Farmers Market.

An added bonus to the day, the Leesport Farmers Market’s Mid Summer Craft Fair. This craft fair offers a variety of vendors and wares. Craft Fair and parking remains free, but adults will be charge $3 for admission to the PA BBQ FEST. Children 17 and younger will have free admission to all the day’s activities. So with summer in full swing make plans to attend and bring the kids, lawn chair, and your appetite because this is one fest you do not want to miss this summer.
