Serving Ice Cream with a Vintage Twist

When was the last time you took an idea from your vacation and made it into a business. That is exactly how Chris and Angie Farrell founded their old fashion ice cream business, Sweet Ride Ice Cream. With no prior business experience, both Chris and Angie were able to take their love of premium ice cream and turn it into a thriving business.

This prompted Chris who is a school teacher and Angie, a former paralegal to research the ice cream industry and the Victorian era to finalize their idea. Chris and Angie started dispensing ice cream and frozen treats using a vintage ice cream bike.

Once word spread of their unique business they were soon able to add on to their fleet with a mobile ice cream parlor trailer. If that wasn’t enough, early this year they expanded their business to include a store front serving ice cream, sodas and milkshakes.

Looking to mirror the quality of old fashion ice cream, Chris and Angie chose to sell Nelson’s Ice Cream made in Royersford, Pennsylvania. Not only do they serve a wide variety of ice cream flavors but Chris and Angie also thought it would be important to incorporate an old fashion soda fountain into their store design. Shipped from northern Michigan, the fountain was originally built in 1946. Both Chris and Angie are proud to put it back to use.
