Berks Youth Chorus has announced that its Summer Sing Camp will be held July 25-29, 2022. Summer Sing is a weeklong day camp, open to young people entering grades 3 through 7.
The camp welcomes all children, with or without musical training. No auditions are held. BYC Summer Sing is for children who love to sing and want a fun summer experience with other children from across the county.
Summer Sing 2022 will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Boulevard, Wyomissing, from Monday, July 25 through Friday, July 29. Camp concludes with a Friday afternoon performance. BYC offers the camp free, except for a $10 registration fee. Summer Sing is free for 2022-2023 BYC members.
Summer Singers work hard and play hard, with serious music making and engaging camp activities. The curriculum includes large and small group singing, sight singing, theory, choreography and vocal technique. The music represents a variety of cultural backgrounds. Each singer receives an official Summer Sing t-shirt and is provided with all music and materials.
All young people are also invited to join Berks Youth Chorus. Founded in 1992, BYC has served hundreds of young people through a premier choral program that runs September through May each year.
Members, in grades 3 through 12, receive high quality vocal instruction and perform at venues throughout Berks County. Members enjoy the company of dozens of singers while performing and building teamwork skills. They also receive leadership opportunities and give back to the community through the Chorus For Causes program.
Members also attend Summer Sing to prepare for the upcoming year of choral singing. Summer Singers are encouraged to continue singing at school and to join BYC.
