Do you remember the first day of school? Dressing up to impress, meeting new people and learning about new subjects can be a lot of pressure for kids. To alleviate the stress of the first day of school, Kristin Boyd Edwards, Communications Director for the Reading School District came up with a unique program designed to uplift students as they walk into school.

Following the direction of each schools Art Teacher volunteers from the community gathered Sunday evening to write encouraging messages with sidewalk chalk on the steps and walkways leading the districts 19 school buildings.

Chalk for the event was donated by Reading High School alum Tim Profitt, manager of Savage 61 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
